Body painting at Expo Seguridad

Sorry my phone didn’t have better resolution.  Each of the three days of the Expo Seguridad conference, this woman was painted in very tasteful, beautiful ways.  Each time with a security theme.  The third day was the best.  She was painted as a Borg, with a video camera as an eye.  The sponsoring vendor is Sermex, a Mexican security products distributor.

    Hi Steve,
Loved your coverage of ISC and I think you have a point. All of the big vendors can afford giant space, peach locations on the floor, extravagant and eye catching booths (?) – what can we call these things they are bigger than many apartments. They always dominate the shows with golf contests, basketball throws for prizes, and special treatment for the VIPs (although they ignored YOU).
Personally,I always go for the really good info UNDER the display table, reserved for the chosen few…I think. The better give-aways are there too. I have enough pens by now.
Its funny how so many people love trade shows strictly for the give-aways, party invitations, free snacks, and to talk to the pretty models who lure in the old, bald, fat owners of the security outfits. Of course, the good looking girls that ask you to check out their company’s products, disappear as soon as the vendor’s old, bald, fat, management come out to pitch their newest PIR motion detector or the like. But guys learn that after attending a couple of shows.
I think ADI, which is a top notch distributor and always treated me exceedingly well – not just at shows but all of the time, could have managed their “red shirts” better at the show. Everyone always can do a better job at these events, but things get crazy even in this economy.
Once you are engaged in a presentation, on line for a demo or show, they figure they have your attention. Plus, they judge VIPs, and the real decision makers by the quality of their clothing, cut of their suit, etc.
I have attended ISC in Canali suits, and shows in jeans, and I have consistently seen that I get the best attention and service when I wear a suit. The booth sales people make snap decisions about who to waste their time with, because there are a lot of time wasters that visit the booths.
They sales people look at your badge to see where you are in the industry “food chain”, faster than girls in a single’s bar look at your left hand to see if you are married. If you don’t fit the profile of a prospective decision maker, they hand you a brochure and a pen, and move on to the next customer.
In your case – they missed a great opportunity to reach a lot of decision makers.
